What do I Need?

Meetings

You should have a pen and paper with you at every meeting, as well as your CHOICES programme and €2 subs.   The subs go towards materials and equipment needed and subsidising trips (where possible).

You should also be wearing full informal uniform unless you're a recruit (recruits can't wear the neckerchief until they have been enrolled).

Guide Uniform
  • Blue Guide sweater
  • Navy Guide polo shirt
  • CGI combats (available from October 2007)
  • Neckerchief - navy and sky blue (half and half) with white border

  • Guide tiepin
Ranger Uniform
  • Navy Ranger sweater
  • Ranger neckerchief with company colours (navy and sky blue with white border)
  • CGI combats (available from October 2007)
  • Navy woggle
All items of uniform are available from the Scout Shop/Outdoor Adventure Store on Middle Abbey Street.

Day Hikes/Trips

  • Full uniform with hiking boots/comfortable runners
  • Packed lunch
  • Bottle of water
  • Waterproof raincoat and rain leggings
  • Extra pairs of socks
  • Plasters
  • Spare plastic bag
  • Pen and paper
These should all be kept in one small rucsac.  Keep your hands free!

Indoor Camps

  • Full uniform (to be worn travelling)
  • Change of clothes per day (layers, include warm, preferably old clothes) with extra socks and underwear
  • NO DENIM!
  • A pair of old runners as well as the ones you wear travelling
  • Warm pyjamas
  • Hat, scarf and gloves
  • Towel, toiletries (don't forget your toothbrush!)
  • Waterproof raincoat and rain leggings
  • Sleeping bag
  • Torch
  • Any medication needed (must be declared on the health form!)
  • Pen and paper
  • Spare plastic bags for wet clothes
  • Knife, fork, spoon, cup, plate, bowl (unbreakable)
  • Tea towel
  • One packet of biscuits
These should all be packed into one rucsac, with the sleeping bag tied onto it.  Keep your hands free!

Outdoor Camps

Everything for indoor camps, PLUS a ground mat, NOT an airbed because these take up too much space in the tent.
